When choosing a contractor be sure to find one with specific experience in the area for which you need a remodeler. Don’t hire a deck contractor to remodel your kitchen!

The best policy is to hire only licensed and insured contractors. This will protect you in the long-term if problems arise. Be sure your contractor files all the necessary permits.

Find out if your contractor is a member of any trade or building association. A contractor who is a member of a trade and/or professional building organization is more likely to be up on current building trends, processes, and materials; know of any new building codes, laws, and restrictions; and may be better suited to understanding the changing needs of the home remodeling and what makes for a successful working relationship.
